this just in from mei!
Dear Jamie,
Very nice meet you too.
Those are wonderful pictures, thank you so much! Now I’m sending them to my parents and my brothers in China.
Thank you again,
Mei
the core to my core.
dear capitol hill, the pulse of the city.
dear frank, the gunsmith.
dear mei, the fishcatcher.
dear luke and dan down the street at kilgore, the sweet (&lifesaving) bookslingers.

dear dead bird in the alley, the sweet compadre.
dear city o' city, the best living room once could ask for.
dear buffalo exchange, the colorful playground.
dear bonnie b, the perfect neighbor.
i love you all.
and can't wait to meet more of you every day.
my neighbor, mei (& her big fish):
i had never met or seen mei in my building before (the whole week that i have been here). she knocked on my door a few minutes ago with her little camera and asked me to take a picture of the fish she had caught today in the platte river so she could send it in.
i happily obliged and then asked if i could take a picture with my camera.
she happily obliged. oh mei....if only you knew how much you made my day today.
just read:

"What about little microphones? What if everyone swallowed them, and they played the sounds of our hearts through little speakers, which could be in the pouches of our overalls? When you skateboard down the street at night you could hear everyone's heartbeat, and they could hear yours, sort of like sonar...."

Implosions - Adrienne Rich
The world's
not wanton
only wild and wavering
I wanted to choose words that even you
would have to be changed by
Take the word
of my pulse, loving and ordinary
Send out your signals, hoist
your dark scribbled flags
but take
my hand
All wars are useless to the dead
My hands are knotted in the rope
and I cannot sound the bell
My hands are frozen to the switch
and I cannot throw it
The foot is in the wheel
When it's finished and we're lying
in a stubble of blistered flowers
eyes gaping, mouths staring
dusted with crushed arterial blues
I'll have done nothing
even for you?

quote of the day :)
"Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose no regret. Appreciate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is."
- Mary Anne Radmacher
